I've had jobs like yours. I really hated the way that they treated people and then expected them to just go along like all is good and don't want you to complain cuz "you should feel lucky to have this job at all." Hopefully there's a different field you could look into. If not, look elsewhere. Bigger cities, bigger job markets.
